This is a statment necklace, made with sterling silver & a rainbow obsidian stone.  The rainbow obsidian measures 1.4" x 1.9".  Because the stone is so large and could overpower the setting I designed a sterling silver castellated bezel to enclose the stone.  A castellated bezel uses a thicker wire to surround the stone.  The backplate is hand stamped with a line pattern to bring out the separations in the bezel.  Rainbow Obsidian is a deep black color, the rainbow effect is caused by light refracting off of tiny air bubbles inside the stone.  The stone is naturally formed of volcanic glass.  I pierced the shape of a volcano on the back to remind the wearer how this stone was created.  The sterling silver pendant is 1.75" wide x 2.85" long including the bale.  Hand stamped sterling silver and lightly patinaed to give it a aged finish.
